Mrs Justa and fire

This is all that is left of a home where 8 people died and one in the basement survived. There were 4 children and 4 adults who lost their lives in this tragic fire. As the cold weather is upon us, there are so many things that need attending to . imageFirst, ALWAYS have smoke detectors in your home. This past July we had our home inspected for the building permit to be turned into a certificate of occupancy. We had to have working smoke detectors in the living room, each bed room and a CO2 detector. No choice, that is the rules.

We added a smoke detector to the area where the furnace is and one in the kitchen. I fear fire, a person looses everything, all photos, all belongings, all memorabilia, even life.

I read that in 1995 the odds of having a house fire with damages of $3,400 — one in 200. I am sure that number has increased with the energy costs and people trying to save with wood burners, pellet stoves, kerosene heaters.

Here are some staggering statistics:

"Facts

  • 80 percent of all fire deaths occur in the home (U.S. Fire Administration)
  • The leading cause of fire deaths is careless smoking (U.S. Fire Administration)
  • Having a working smoke detector more than doubles one’s chances of surviving a fire (U.S. Fire Administration)
  • 3,675 people died in fires in the United States in 2005 – one person every 143 minutes. While the number of fires increased in 2005 over 2004, the number of deaths decreased 5.8 percent. (National Fire Protection Association).
  • In 2005, 106 firefighters died in the line of duty in the United States – down from 117 in 2004 (U.S. Fire Administration)
  • Adults 65 and older are more than twice as likely to die in fires as the overall population. (U.S. Fire Administration study)
  • People born in 2003 have a 1-in-1,100 lifetime odds of dying due to exposure to smoke, fire or flame. Odds in any given year are 1:86,000. (National Safety Council) " from http://www2.nsc.org/library/facts/fires.htm

We need to be respectful of fire, and the hazards that can cause it. Just because there are plugs that will turn your 2 outlet into an 8 outlet, it is probably not a good idea to use all 8 things at once.

If you are using a space heater and your lights dim, it is too much strain on the electric wiring. Check with an electrician. Check the electric cords, look for dings in the coating, make sure plugs are plugged in all the way. Have emergency plans for what to do in case of a fire, ladders for second levels. Have a professional clean your chimney / stove pipes. Please take the extra time to be careful.

Some helpful information:also from http://www2.nsc.org/library/facts/fires.htm

"Smoke Detectors

  • One is definitely NOT enough! Every home should be equipped with smoke detectors on every level, particularly outside of sleeping areas.
  • Ensure that your smoke detectors are tested monthly and batteries are replaced twice a year. Change batteries when you change your clocks.
  • Encourage children to help test the smoke detectors. Familiarize them with the sounds of the alarm(s).

Fire Extinguishers

  • Keep an all-purpose fire extinguisher in your kitchen (one rated for grease fires and electrical fires.)
  • It's a good idea to keep fire extinguishers near the furnace, garage, and anywhere else a fire may start. These extinguishers are affordable, life-saving equipment for your home.
  • Make sure every able-bodied member of the family is trained and familiar with the proper way to use the fire extinguishers.
  • If you must use an extinguisher, make sure you have a clear way out in the event you can't put out the fire. "

When you are visiting a friend, or family, look and see if they have smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, hazards. It is better to say something to protect them, then to bite your tongue, and have to regret never trying to help .

Love and prayer, Mrs Justa .

Mrs Justa and children

Merry Christmas time is a time of wonder, but nothing is as marvelous as the laughter of a child. Here is Brandon in his Christmas vest, white shirt and tie laughing at his dad. 100_2146_editedHe was cooing and chatting in his little baby  sounds and just filling my heart with pleasure. The children are what Christmas is all about.

Next year he will be 1 yr and 4 months, he will probably have the giggles down to a science by then. They will be in their new home by then and  he will have different wonders to experience.

I remember when Jeff was able to absorb the magic of the lights,he was a year and 9 months old, and we decorated a 10 foot tree while he was in bed,Jeffs first Christmas tree the next night when it was dark, we took him into the living room and turned on the lights . The magic filled the room and his face lit up with wonder and the room echoed with his chuckle.

As Mark and I packed up the decorations yesterday, and I wrapped the ornaments, I witnessed again the different phases of wonder in Jeff's years gone by.
From the time I was pregnant on Christmas 1981 through the time Jeff was 18, there was a photo ornament I had made up for each year. As I carefully wrapped them and put them away, I realized how precious time is, and love is and our children are.
Live each moment in the wonder of Christmas, and make memories for those you come across. Love, Cindy

Mrs Justa and "Old Dogs , children and watermelon wine"

There is an old song that I happened to hear the a part of it this morning and it was titled "Old Dogs and Children and Watermelon Wine". by Tom T. Hall . It is about a man who is drinking at a bar and an older man is cleaning the bar, he spikes up a conversation with the man having a drink....
There were a few  lines that hit me .

"Ain't but three things in this world that's worth a solitary dime,
But old dogs and children and watermelon wine."

"He said, "Women think about themselves, when men-folk ain't around. "
( I do not totally agree with the women part, but I may be in denial LOL)
And friends are hard to find when they discover that you're down."
I am agreeing to an extent on this one, Mark and I do have a few good friends, who will not ever let you down, no matter what. But in the road of life I have found, for myself and for others, that there have been friends and family that turn away when things are not going well. Have I turned away on others?
He said, "I tried it all when I was young and in my natural prime, Now it's old dogs and children and watermelon wine." 100_1762_edited

I do not know if you have every had a dog, but I am reminded of the various dogs we have had. And it is so accurate. A dog will stay with you whether you are well or ill, wealthy or poor, angry or happy. This little guy has been with us for a year now, we got him from the SPCA. I can not imagine the pain the owners must have had letting him go. They have unconditional love.

And a child,  100_1903 how can the innocence and love of a child not be worth every penny in the world. Children do not come into the world hating, nor being nasty, they do not know revenge, the world helps to characterize the child into an adult. I know that some of us have biological disorders which destine us to have physical or emotional qualities. But at the time a child is young, there is a feeling of total innocence, total trust.

I heard this song and wanted to share it, as it touched a part of my heart, and made me soul search to see what kind of friend and family I have been. Love to all, Cindy

Mrs Justa and the goals unachieved

"The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step" Chinese proverbThe famous mesas of Monument Valley, Utah..  To get from here to there we must move. This means in everything we do, everything we want to accomplish. I am using this photo because it represents how far some goals seem.

I have many goals, many wishes , many places in the future I would like to get to. But not one of the goals will be achieved if I do not start them. Do you have goals? Do you have intentions that lay dormant, except in your mind?

My mom used to tell me "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" . I better watch out then cuz I think the asphalt on that treacherous road is getting thicker.

Goals, intentions, they have a way to haunt me. Simple goals, like washing the car inside and out and waxing it. I almost met that goal in September, but it started to rain. And the intent and goal became clouded over. Sure I go to the no touch car washes and do the quick vacuum, but I am talking a detail type clean. I am just going to have to bite the bullet and let the folks at "Delta Sonic" do it. Keep that asphalt from the detail job not done off that road to hell.

Another goal, exercise 3-4 times a week, whether it be on the stationery bike, or walk up the road we live on, I live the goal in my mind, but never get to it.

Follow the weight loss plan that works, another good intention.

Get more involved with church. Take a nice vacation. Take the dog for a walk.

Have time for friends and family more, well I think I partially do that, but not to the intent I would like to.

Save enough money to back us for 6 months of bills, not doing too well on that one.

Undercoat my car, nope not done yet.

Write a book, nope not that either. So you can see, at least for me , I have started some pretty heavy paving project on the dreaded roadway, I have not gotten any closer to my goals on the horizon. How about you? Love Mrs Justa

Mrs Justa and the Christmas Tree

To the delight of the cat, I put up the actual Christmas tree this year. For the past 3 years Mark and I put up a table top tree, silver, with a color disc that spins around inside the stand and make the tree change colors. 100_2003It is a cute tree, but in this house we actually have a front window in the living room. So I brought in the 6 foot tree from its comfortable place on the back wall of the shed, and Mark and I reshaped the branches and slowly it came to life.

I like this tree, about 9 years ago, Jeff and I were decorating for Christmas, and the tree we had was a family pass down to the next needy person type artificial tree. It had served its needs, but on a spur of a moment, we flew off to K Mart and got this one. The flier had come and it was marked down 50%, so we got it. The family pass down went to my sister. I do not know if she still has it or not, but it was one of the first made artificial trees and really looked artificial. Jeff had terrible allergies to molds and we found he became more congested with a real tree, hence the starting of artificial.

Usually as I decorate for the holidays, Christmas music is playing and there is either tea, coffee or cocoa on the stove, maybe fresh baked cookies. I hope Jeff remembers those times of decorating for the holidays. We always did it on the weekend after Thanksgiving. We would sing carols as we put hundreds of thumbtacks around the house. There was one year Jeff had blinking lights down the hall and around his bedroom ceiling.

The holidays bring joy and sadness. Sadness for the fact that people have passed on, traditions seem to be scarcer, and well it isn't like it was in days gone by. The joy as we are now grandparents, and there is a magical part of Christmas to children. We still have Christmas Eve buffet dinner and gift opening at my moms old house, now owned by my brother and his wife. And Christmas morning we have coffee and breakfast with Jeff and Amanda , open gifts and they go off to her parents home for dinner.

I love driving around and looking at all the houses that have decorations up. I love the baking, and the secret Santa at work, the cookie exchange, Christmas Carols, and how people seem to be more friendly during the holidays. People actually look at one another and say Merry Christmas. The magic of Christmas and what it stands for to me.

Mark, he likes the tree, although he says if it was up to him, this tree would not be standing up in the living room. He likes the table top tree just fine. Christmas is not as magical to him as it is to me. The cat, well he thinks Christmas means we have hung new toys for him on a tree, and placed tinsel to gnaw on. So it is magical to him too. Indi, the dog, he seems to care less about the tree. And baby Brandon, this tree is up for you ! Love Mrs Justa,

Mrs Justa lighting a candle for Mr Badger

Please keep Badger in your thoughts and prayers. 100_1195 Badger is our son's families dog, he is a gentle giant. He is 2 1/2 years old and loves to cuddle. He has something funky going on with his left eye, it looks like blood in it. The vet saw him tonight and can not diagnose it until the 350.00 worth of blood work comes back.

The vet said it could indicate a variety of diagnoses, so lets wait for the blood results.

So a candle is being lit for Badger tonight.

I feel bad for the kids, they try so hard to do the right things , to get ahead, and when life comes down and socks them in the gut, I hurt too.

I hope that Badger pulls through, maybe only needs a steroid eye drop or something that simple. He is not blind in the eye, just it is not right. So think of him , will you please. Say a prayer, light a candle, and let's see how things turn out for the kids and the dog. Love, Badgers Grandma--- Mrs Justa

Update on Mr Badger,

His blood work was abnormal, his platelet count is low, he is on a mixture of medications, it could be an infection, or it could be something more serious, it could be cancer, no one knows yet for sure. On Thanksgiving he had 3 candles lit for him, I want to keep him close in my prayers and heart. My Badger is the best behaved dog, his compassion for his family is amazing. We watched him in August 2007 for a week when the kids went on their honeymoon, in the morning he would try to slither up on the bed for a morning cuddle, and let me tell you, it is hard for a 100 lb dog to slither anywhere. He gallops like a horse, and believes he is a lap dog.

So as I settle down from the Thanksgiving day dinner with family and friends, I once again say, hang in there Badger. We love you > Love mrs Justa

Mrs Justa and Brandon

Oh I was a little sleepy this morning, but Grandma and Grandpa got to spend time with lil Brandon last evening. The lil guy had slept a little during the day, so when we got to his house we were advised that anyone who held him would need to try to let him sleep.

Not a problem for Grandma! I held the lil guy on my shoulder and he slept till about 10:00. He cuddled and slept, I was following instructions. I wanted to pass him the grandpa, but I did not want to wake him, he needed his sleep.

It is funny, as I look back in life how quickly life goes by, it is hard to believe he is already 7 weeks old ( almost!)

What a precious little bundle of wonder.

100_1744

I wonder what he will be like in a week, in a month , in a year. It is so hard to imagine him anything but this innocent tiny baby. He is in a very special home, loved by his mom and dad incredibly deeply.

He has so much a head of him, a whole life, and here I am thinking about living on this planet for almost 55 years now, what did people think of me when I was 7 weeks old? I can not remember my mom telling me about how it was in those first few months, and now there is no one to tell me.

My mom, my dad have all passed on. My grandmother died when I was 4 and there are no other relatives around that would remember my first 2 months of life. I do have a sister that is 10 yrs older then me, but I am not sure if she would remember then.

So my advice to new parents is write things down, take lots of photos, and leave a journal of the life of your children so that when they are 55, and if you are no longer around, they have an image of life back when they were babies.

Peace, sleep tight lil Brandon, love to all....

Mrs Justa Believing there is a plan

There was a song

I used to sing at church called "I Believe" And some of the lyrics were:

"I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows......

I believe above the storm the smallest prayer can still be heard....100_1662

Every time I hear a new born baby cry, or touch a leaf , or see the sky,

Then I know why I believe......."

Is this not the utmost truth.

Life is not something that just happens, it is a miracle. Whether it is the garden that blossoms, the vegetables that grow tall from a small packet of seed, the child that is born. This does not just happen as a freak of nature.
I believe there is a plan for each of us, for everything. I believe that we need to appreciate what we have been blessed with. I believe in God and I believe the is a reason for everything.

I believe when there is a time

that hurt knocks on our door of life and weighs heavy on our hearts, that eventually we will see what was in the plan , why did whatever happen?

I look at our grandson in this picture,

this little bundle of joy, so close yet so far away, as he lays in an intensive care unit, being cared for by health professionals when his parents are not there, and health professionals an alarm sound away when his parents are there. We will know why this all happened at some point. I can not say why right now. I have thoughts, but they are just thoughts.

Why is everything not great and rosy?

Why are the winters so harsh? Why are there divorces? Why are there injuries?

I am always looking for what good came out of something bad, something terrible. Sometimes it can be a long time before we can see it, but it is there.

So sleep tight little Brandon,

and continue to get strong. And for everyone who is going through tough times, look beyond the tough area, look for a glimmer, a tiny ray of sun, look inside yourself for the hidden strength, for without hurt the heart is hollow- and I for one can testify, by heart has gotta be far from hollow.

Peace, faith , and believing in good things are wishes I have for you. Love, Mrs Justa, filling in for the slowly healing Mr Justa :)

Mrs Justa and the reunion

Hello all, We are Back. Mark did go013 down with us which was cool, that way he was not stuck up here in this half emptied home . This is kind of depressing , the shelves

are empty and it does not feel like home. Home is made up of things and memories, without them it is more of a shell. Kind of like how Mark feels right now, like a shell of himself.

The reunion was nice. We saw 34 folks show up for it, that is good. I always wish for one year  that everyone would be there. But I also understand some do not like to camp.

We did a cabin this year. We normally camp in the state park with everyone else, but the cabin was a different experience. It was 8 miles from the park, so not too far to go to and come back to the reunion. It unfortunately became the only place that Mark stayed, but it was okay- it was safe and we were able to come back and see him.

My sister Karen and her husband Tim actually came back to the cabin to visit with Mark for a while Saturday afternoon. Jeff and Amanda and I went up there with them, and we did have a nice visit, after an hr or so we returned to the reunion for the dinner time. Mark stayed at the cabin, just not himself, very depressed and anxious, and not able to tolerate all the commotion.

But it was okay with everyone, everyone understood, and he was able to drive for 1/2 the trip both ways, which in itself is a great improvement over last Monday when driving was a task to hard to take. 100_1533Our family was fun, they are so sincere and real people,  I love the gathering of everyone, to see the kids and how they have grown. To see my brothers , sisters and their spouses and just talk to them, give each other hugs and know it was a memory in time that was worth it.

I am blessed with a wonderful family, and I can not ever take that for granted. I am going to get ready for tomorrow, to finish the laundry and vacuum the house. May each of you find comfort in those that love you too. Love Cindy

Mrs Justa and the 4th of July

43 Things Tags: ,,,

(imageCourtesy of  www.orientaltrading.com) The smiling faces are because Mark is home. I know he is not feeling like smiling yet, so these will have to do for now. I am smiling for him.

We have had more issues with the house and the darn getting the certificate of occupancy- but we are getting there. I had to get a certified electrician to come and inspect the place, so that was done today, needed the water district dude to inspect the water- that was done before- so he hopefully faxed it to the town, smoke detectors in every room, done and the warranty seal is there. So now the skirting and I think we are on a serious roll to move in next Friday.

My side of the family is having their reunion this weekend in Allegheny State Park. We come from Arizona, Mich, Mass, RI, Alabama, Kentucky and Syracuse area. I have 8 living brothers and sisters, some with kids that have kids of their own. It is nice to see everyone. I just found out one of my sisters rolled her car on the way down. Her daughter, son and sons friend are ok, the car and car top carrier are not. Seems she just had tires put on , and the store maybe felt lug nuts need not be tightened. So her tire fell off going 65 mph. They are all at the hospital now, about 2 1/2 hrs from here, and some of the reunion goers are going to help salvage her belongings, my brothers are driving 2 cars down instead of one- so she has a car to return in and my sister has a van and has gone to pick up the gang at the hospital. What a way to start the reunion!!

Thank God they had the car top carrier on it, I bet it cushioned the roll. My niece has some scraps, but they are all alive.

I am not leaving till tomorrow night, so no blog for the weekend, Mark may or may not go, it depends how he feels tomorrow night. It sounds like pretty good weather. Mark had rented a cabin for us about 8 mi north of the park, so we will stay at the cabin and go to the park for the gatherings. I am excited about going , yet wish Mark felt better. Now I am worried about my sister and kids, but it sounds like they are VERY lucky. Jeff and Amanda are staying with us Sat night at the cabin, we are all returning Sunday. It will be short, but nice. I hope all have a good 4th of July, stay safe, don't play with fire crackers- let the pros do it.

Love to all, Mrs and Mr Justakrusen

When it rains it justas pours!!!

image

It's Sunday evening as I type this post.

My get up and go has got up and went. Jeff & Amanda came by with pizza and wings for Fathers day. They wanted to take us out to dinner but some of my side effects from the Lithium are still kicking in. I don't want to go into detail lets just suffice it to say I was better off sticking around the house.

We did venture out to the land to take

some measurements to be sure some were accurate before they start the site work tomorrow. We're not real sure so I need to get out there in the morning before they get too far along. The back border might be off by a few feet and would require some more site work. We shall see tomorrow.

After getting back from the site Jeff & Amanda image

took us out to Ice Cream to top off the Fathers day festivities. A good time was had by all. I had Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream in a dish with Choc sprinkles. MMMMMMM. good. My daughter Adrianne called to wish me Happy Fathers day while we out. I called her back and we we were able to catch up on some news by phone. We exchanged some information. I didn't want to make it to negative of a conversation ie, I didn't want to whine to much so I cut it short a little. Hopefully we can get together soon to see the new puppy she got and to talk face to face.

I can't believe PreciousRock wants me to stop

whining so much. And Stan the man is offering some cheese with my whine. I'm not happy unless I'm whining. You guys don't want me to be unhappy do you? Actually, I feel like I have quite a few reasons to complain. Everything has been going haywire in my life the last little while. It needs to stop sometime. I'm cutting this post here as I'm sure I can't think of anything nice to say to or about anybody right now.

Justa gettin it done!

100_1349_edited Here is one half of H&S landscaping cutting the front yard. Jeff and his buddy Justin started a landscaping business a few years back. The are very busy and very smart the way they go about doing their business. They are putting everything they make back into the business. Paying for new equipment and really building up a strong client base. We were lucky to get them to put us on the schedule.100_1351_edited

But this year we are customers. The problem Jeff has is with realizing that this is a business arrangement. He wants to cut the grass for free and I (we) want to pay him $20.00 per cut. So far they have cut the yard twice and no bill has come sooooo. Cindy put a check for $40.00 in with some mail we had for him.100_1347

He saw it and got kind of upset saying that somehow we would get it back. Tell me if you have an opinion on this. Should we pay Jeff & Justin to mow the yard? Is it ok to have a business arrangement with family? My thing is that it cost them money for their gas & time and travel time to get to our house they should be compensated fairly for that. If I had someone else do it I didn't know, I'd have to pay. As you an see they have the equipment to do the job. They do a very good job and it can't take them more than 15 mins. max to do it. Our lawn was the last one they did for the day and we were the 10th yard they did. Not bad for not starting till afternoon.

On the job front that is going at a snails pace. It turns out I have to personally go down to the Insurance company and let them make a copy of my license to run it to see if I am clean. Then my appointment for my finger print test to run the FBI check on me isn't until next Tuesday June 3rd. This actually works out pretty good as I have an afternoon appointment up in Oswego Ny to start the process of getting in to see a shrink. So I'll stop into the insurance company in Syracuse at about 9:00am then come home let Indy back out and hot foot it up to Oswego for my 2:00pm appt with the outpatient mental health clinic. I'm starting to feel like Stan.A little overwhelmed with all the new stuff. My little routine of just getting up, then taking a nap when ever I want to is almost over. I don't know how often I'll be able to post as I get busy with the moving, the new job, and appts with shrinks. I shouldn't be down and out for to long.

I had some major high anxiety yesterday my compensation is coming to an end and a settlement is near. I'm going to have to do some fighting to get some proper compensation I don't want to rattle on about it yet this post is long enough already. Just suffice it to say major stresses right now have brought out the Adavan. I took one last night it seems to have helped as I got about 41/2 hrs of sleep in a row. That is a lot for me. I'll let everyone know tomorrow how my various activities I have today go. Gotta run have a great day. I'm going to try to.

You've justa gotta be joking right?

100_1342 This is how we live now. Squeezing between boxes. Cindy has been packing the boxes and I have  as much as possible been in charge of transportation and logistics... The Pod we are renting should be here on Friday. It will feel good getting all of this stuff put away so we can move around the house to continue packing. 17 years of accumulated stuff. You wouldn't believe the stuff you keep. We had home taped VHS movies from years ago. I have no doubt that had we rented a dumpster we would have filled it up easily. I'm justa mazed at the stuff we keep thinking that someday we will actually use it again. It's sad to say, but I was afraid to rent one because I was worried that my neighbors would load it with their stuff while I wasn't looking. Isn't than pathetic.(I don't know if its worse me worrying about them doing it, or them actually doing it.) 100_1336

This is going to be our life for at least another four weeks maybe more if things don't go according to plan. You know Mr. Murphy is out there waiting. I hope you don't get to bored with our talking about the move right now. This is our life. Cindy is busting her but all day at work what with some special projects she's working on,and staffing issues that constantly crop up. Then she has been coming home and taking charge of the move. I tried to pack but my idea of pacing is to throw everything out. So Cindy has to run that aspect of the operation or we will be buying all new stuff. LOL. How do you like the way I got out of that one?

 100_1340

I got the job I went to interview for. Now I have to wait to hear back on my Drivers License test (to make sure my license is clean) from there I will be needing to take a finger print test to determine if I have a felony. If whining is not a felony I should be ok. After that I will have to ride along with someone on the route for maybe a day or so, just to learn the ropes. Then they are going to release me to drive 8 to 11 developmentally challenged individuals of all ethnic and economic back rounds to and from their programs every day 5 days a week. I'm really looking forward to it.

All this going on and my Yankees are in last place. This time of year I don't follow each and every game but I do try to at least know the score. They had started playing better lately with a 5 game winning streak which was kinda nice. Also in sports news and on a little bit higher plane was the Syracuse Men's Lacrosse team winning the National Championship not to shabby huh? I'm not  a real big fan but I was able to catch quite a bit of it on the boob tube in between helping momma move boxes around. This is another one of my windy post I'll just close it with hoping that Jeff & Amanda who are a little under the weather will feel a little better in coming days. Thanks for stopping by and visiting.

Justa kidding!

imageI posted this on the WordPress website but I wanted you folks that don't go there to read this and see early pictures of Momma and Jeff.

I finally got Cindy's permission to put her picture on the blog. Here she is holding Jeff. This is one from quite a few years ago so she has changed quite a bit. She doesn't monkey around, when she picks a picture does she.I went Bananas when she said I could use it. Jeff's going to go ape.... when he see's I've put a picture of him on here. (I didn't get his permission). Oh well, speaking of permission. I made the mistake of asking Momma her opinion of a post I was planning to put on here the other day. Needless to say she was less than thrilled. I was less than thrilled when she gave me her honest opinion, didn't she know I JUSTA wanted her to rubber stamp it. Oh well I learned another valuable lesson. If you don't want to know don't ask!! So in the future(as in from now on) I'm taking an idea right out of the Billy Bob Clinton play book "Don't ask Momma, Don't tell Momma" with a slight twist on the last part to read "Don't tell Momma till after you've done it." I know, I know,These are Gorilla tactics, but when times get tough( I mean isn't $3.27 a gal for gas tough enough?) than you dig down and you do what you have to. After all I had just spent 10 minutes away from my bon bon's to produce in my opinion, a kick fanny post. Oh well.

Now you ask, Mark what kind of useful information did you give me today? Well besides the price of gas at the Nice and Easy in Phoenix. Not much yet. So in the interest of brevity (which this post has no way of accomplishing now) I'm going to give you a few quick references of the local Syracuse area that will help you,in no particular order:

  • One of the best places for news, information, weather or whatever online and on tv is 9 Wsyr.com if you've never gone, check them out. A lot of information for sure.
  • If you want to know what traffic is looking like, and you go to work via 690 east into town, check out this neat site, with it's group of cameras. When it starts getting lighter earlier (remember those days) it well be easier to see.
  • And just to keep this post as short as I can,(boy does he ramble on) I realize this isn't a local what ever but who doesn't want to keep up with The Farmers Almanac . This is a really, really neat site with lots of information.

There, that didn't hurt to much did it? Take your seat belt off, get up out of the chair, get something to drink (Beverage of choice) and relax. Hopefully I haven't scared you away and we'll see ya tomorrow.

I Justa wanna play Daddy!!

image Indi is an amazing dog. He listens very well does a few neat tricks and is exactly like having a 2 year old(as in baby) around. I've already told you I'm spending way to much time on the computer, wellll apparently Indi thinks so too. He will constantly bring his ball in and stand on his back legs and set the ball on the desk. This isn't bad enough, he has the nasty habit of rolling the ball around in his mouth for about 15 seconds getting it good an wet and slimy. Quite often I'll stop what I'm doing and go out in the other room and throw the ball. He'll play until he's tired himself out, which usually takes about 20 minutes. Ok, job done I played with my baby I can get back to "Work" now. Yep, you guessed it plopp, ball on desk!! The mutt would play ball all day long. I feel guilty but, we have to forcefully tell him NO. He then gets this look  100_0707 How can I say no. Very hard to be productive with these distractions. Maybe Cindy can take him to work with her. Hmmmmm. Oh, not only do I get harassed by Indi his partner in crime starts this stuff  100_0694 Now y

JustaKrusen hard at work!!

100_0668That's right folks Momma and I have figured out how to put pictures on here. Of course she would put up the one showing me working hard? We have finally figured out how to down load from the digital camera onto the computer.

Cindy and I went to the gym today. We've got it to where we're going at least 3 times a week, we may ratchet that up 1 or 2 more days. It is really helping bringing more strength to my leg, however I can tell that it just isn't going to come all the way back. The Arthritis that has settled in the knee gets pretty painful and limiting sometimes. I'm not complaining though it is a lot better than it has been.

On the way back from the gym we called Tom and Sherri to see if they wanted to stop out to Dunkin Donuts and have coffee. They had company over and asked us to stop over to their house instead. (I think they were worried that we were going to make them buy) Lol.  Their son Collin was there visiting, we hadn't seen him in a while. He sure has grown up and matured, inspite of his parenting.

Justa Missed a Birthday!!

 image image      image

I just got a return call from Adrianne on my cell phone a little while ago. I wanted to bring her attention to my post about the Partaaaa later this spring. So I picked up the phone and my little girlie says,"Hey,(She always says that) how's it going?" After exchanging salutations she asked me if "anything special happened last Saturday?" I tell her "not that I'm aware of". Refer to picture of me up above. It appears, I forgot one of the happiest days of my life! Yep, 26 years ago We first exposed the world to Adrianne Alice Krusen. She has in the last year or so (see can't remember your wedding day either) dropped the Krusen to match the last name of her life mate and husband Josh. When wife #1(Dianne) told me that we were going to be adding a member to the family I was to say the least ecstatic. I started playing Paul Ankas's "Your having my baby"all the time.I'm trying to find a way to blame Cindy for me forgetting Adrianne's birthday. Isn't it the wife's job to remind the husband? I'm going to do a post down the road a piece on those years of being a long distance dad and the effect it has on dads and kids relationship.(It is excellent now)

Justa taking way to much medicine!

image Ok, so I've been on the computer too much lately. I really have been. My Librarian (Hello Barb) has a whole bunch of books lined up for me to read. I still have about 10 left from my last shipment. They are all excellent reads. James Patterson,Jack Higgens, Daniel Silva,Dean Koontz, Catherine Coltier, just to name a few. I promise Barb I'll start reading again. I was so anal about reading when you first gave me them, I think I read about 15 of them in about 2 weeks wasn't it? Oh and by the way your charging me way to much for them.(She gives them to me)

Amanda, Cindy tells me you read the blog everyday. Thanks for that, it's nice to know that I'm not just whistling in the wind. As you've read, I'm still just experimenting and learning all kinds of things I hope to get some worthwhile content going soon and if you have any ideas or anything you would like researched just let me know as, I have lots of time and would be more than glad to look up different resources. I hope your feeling better soon, being sick is no fun. Jeff tells me we're invited over for a movie night again. I'm glad momma's behavior the last time we were there didn't shut the door on future movie nights. We just got about 5 or 6 new Dvd's so let us know when.

My next "have to leave the house" isn't till Friday(Chiropractor), however I was talking to Indy a while ago and he suggested a ride in the car would be nice. So I believe we will go to Dunkin Donuts and get a coffee. I've been buying Indy donut holes the last few times I've been, he loves them.(Jeff, could he be a police dog?) Tom, I got a hold of Natalie last night and we are mailing her a picture of the John Cow.com website so she could see what I'm talking about for a caricature for the heading on the website. I really like the one she did of you. Something along those lines would be awesome. Just think Natalie would be the head of graphics for all Justakrusen enterprises going forward. Hey, You never know.

I hate to bring up this subject but it has gotten out of hand and I have no choice. Effective immediately there will be a $5.00 per event "Lurking Charge" for not commenting on a post that you read. This can be paid either by credit card or cash, (as I don't trust any of you with a check,Your family remember). It's necessary for me to institute this charge because, well, because, because, well because that's why. So check your mail boxes and remit payment within 10 days or there will be a 10% late fee assessed. Thank you in advance for you compliance, it will make family functions a little less stressful if I don't have to bring it up there.

Justa Getting Some Things Off Of My Chest

Feeling a little unloved and rejected today! This too shall pass. I just asked each of my kids, Adrianne and Jeff, to get back to me on something. That was 2 days ago. Picture:(Holding hand on a..) Good thing it wasn't life threatening or anything. What is so pathetic, is that the request for return info is just a response to a joke that I sent them. (They don't know that though) It was a funny ha ha type moment that I was trying to share. See I can write about this here, because neither one of them are reading this thing anyway and it's a way for me to vent. But it is pathetic that you can't just check in once in a while. Anywayyyyyyy. I haven't done a damn thing today but sat on my butt reading other peoples blogs. And you know what. So what!! That is my job right now. Sitting on my butt and getting paid for it. I almost feel like a Democrat! lol. Po'd at wife at lunch about above topics and her reaction to my rant. Her: "Your over reacting, or misreading or something". Me: Words and actions or inactions mean things. I believe momma and I will be going to the gym this evening. The mood I'm in I don't really want to go but I have too to continue some progress that I have made weight wise not mentioned yet and physcially some improvement in my leg.
